DIESEL/GAS AUSTRALIA IS PLEASED TO BE SPONSORING 'SPOONY' IN 4WD ELITE WINCH CHALLENGES!!!
We are pleased to be sponsoring Jason Wotherspoon (Spoony) who competes in Australia’s toughest 4WD winch challenges
Definitely not for the faint hearted a winch challenge is a timed event on a marked track covering some of the toughest terrain Australia has to offer including bottomless mudholes, boulder strewn gorges, steep sand dunes, creekbeds with bank breaking waters and many other treacherous cross country landscapes. Competitors don’t even get to see the track until they are racing on it.
The competitors of these events consist of a 2 man team, a driver also known as the pilot and the navigator also known as the winch rabbit. Spoony is a very successful driver of a Nissan Patrol Ute TD42 (Turbo Diesel 4.2L) Intercooled and has to be able to drive or winch up vertical hills and descend similar terrain. Just imagine dangling off the end of a winch cable vertically and having to rely solely on that warn winch keeping you and your vehicle in one piece and the ability of your navigator to instruct you with your recovery. It seems it would be quite a rush.
The winner of these events is essentially the fastest to complete the track, however there may be time penalties that are given for not following the rules laid out. Some of these include knocking over the marked pegs, not following the stringent safety guidelines, excessive wheel spinning & maybe the hardest not to do while navigating these tracks, no swearing!! We are very pleased that at the last event Spoony received no penalty points, which goes to show his skill & discipline when it comes to competing.

* Especially down low where turbo lag is experienced.
* Back of the diesel ensuring motor is running more efficiently and hence
improving engine life and reducing high costs while still gaining extra power.
* Cleaner running engine.
